I am passionate about empowering people to overcome difficulties, including finding a personal sense of well-being that is free from anxiety or depression. I have experience with many clients from the private and not-for-profit sectors including long term unemployed, employee assistance programs, parenting and family programs, school psychology, and mental health referrals from doctors.
I know it can be hard for some people to reach out for help, and some people feel very nervous about seeing a counsellor for the first time. I work from a client-centred approach so in the first session we take the time to take about your goals, your reason for attending, what to expect and how long that might take. The answer is – in your own time!
I provide therapy for teenagers and adults (both individuals and couples) who are experiencing difficulties. I provide treatment for things such as: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, stress, school issues, family issues, relationships, couples therapy, grief and loss, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Counselling can really help you by talking to someone who is outside of the problem, someone who can listen, understand and walk alongside your experiences to help you find the answers. Counselling does not involve me giving you advice and I will not tell you what I think you should do. Counselling is all about giving you the power, giving you the tools to reflect on what is getting in the way of your happiness or achieving your goals, and overcoming them to find a healthier, happier you.
